The gazetted notice, dated 18 August, reports that the EPA board was gazetted almost ten months after its stated appointment. The Cabinet approved the board for a period of one year, with the board’s term effective from 28 October 2025 to 27 October 2027.
The notice appoints Omkar Lochan as Chairman and Karen Roopchand as Vice‑Chairperson of the EPA board. It lists Dr Bendita Latchmansingh, Dion Inniss, Eon Boyal, Desmond Sears and Dr Josh Kanhai as members, and includes a representative of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission and a representative of the Guyana Forestry Commission.
The Cabinet considered a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance before approving the EPA board appointments. The Ministry of Natural Resources indicates that Lochan is the Head of Policy Planning and Coordination at the ministry.
The gazetted notice indicates that the latest EPA board composition retains five members from the February 2022 board, and that Dion Inniss and Eon Boyal replaced Vanessa Benn and Sarah Browne on the board.
