The Guyana Police Force detained five non-nationals, including Venezuelans.
The illegal mining operation was discovered in the Potaro mining district, where mining equipment and gold were seized.
Investigations are being conducted jointly by the GGMC Corps of Wardens and the GPF.
The ministry will continue surveillance and enforcement activities across all mining districts, will deport all non-nationals previously found in illegal mining activities, and has reminded all miners and stakeholders to obtain necessary permissions and ensure compliance with mining and environmental laws.
