The UK Export Finance (UKEF) has a financing support facility worth £3 billion. Senior Finance Minister encouraged local businesses to tap into this facility established to support exports.
The UKEF expanded its export financing support to £3 billion in October 2025. Financing may be mobilised in more than 60 currencies and can be provided through two modalities: bank guarantee or direct lending at a fixed interest rate.
Financing facilities can provide up to 85 percent of the contract amount, typically facilitating bank financing between £1 million and £30 million. Credit to the private sector more than doubled between end-2020 and end-2025, while non-performing loans fell from 10.8 percent in 2020 to 1.3 percent in 2025.
Cumulative financing from IDB Invest increased from less than US$10 million in 2020 to more than US$260 million. Guyana, established diplomatic relations with the UK 60 years ago, is the UK's largest trading partner in the Commonwealth Caribbean.
