Each of the three sub districts will have at least three excavators, Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha said in an interview with the Department of Public Information on Thursday.
The government distributed more than 18,000 coffee plants to farmers in Region One. It also distributed over $50 million in planting materials and other agricultural inputs to farmers in the region.
During the visit, a pontoon and two excavators were commissioned. Two tractors were delivered to satellite communities. No date or location for the visit was given.
The government’s hinterland agricultural programme is coordinated through a dedicated committee focused on 243 hinterland villages. Honey production has grown from approximately 2,000 gallons in 2020 to between 40,000 and 50,000 gallons.
