Advertise with InSightGY
InSightGY is an independent Guyanese publication read by people who follow this country closely. Advertising here reaches them directly, on a site with no pop-ups, no auto-playing sound and no advertisement that moves the page while somebody is reading it.
Everything you need to plan a campaign is below. Fill in the form at the end and we will come back to you with availability and rates.
Where your advertisement can go
Seven positions, all standard IAB sizes, so artwork you already own will fit. Each one has a desktop size and a separate mobile size, and both are needed: we do not stretch one to cover the other.
| Position | Desktop | Mobile | Max weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Masthead banner Directly under the masthead on the front page, above the first story. The first thing on the page after the navigation. Highest reach on the site. | 970 × 90 or 728 × 90 | 320 × 50 | 150KB |
| In-feed billboard Between story blocks on the front page and section pages. Full width of the reading grid, in the flow of the page rather than beside it. | 970 × 250 or 728 × 90 | 300 × 250 | 200KB |
| In-article rectangle Inside an article, after the fourth paragraph. Reaches people who are reading rather than scanning. Highest attention on the site. | 300 × 250 or 336 × 280 | 300 × 250 | 150KB |
| End of article Below the article body, above the comments. Seen by people who finished the piece. | 728 × 90 or 970 × 90 | 320 × 100 | 150KB |
| Sidebar rectangle Top of the sidebar on articles and section pages. Desktop and tablet only. The sidebar is not rendered on phones. | 300 × 250 | 300 × 250 | 150KB |
| Half page Lower sidebar, which stays in view as the page scrolls. Stays on screen through a long read. Desktop only. | 300 × 600 or 300 × 250 | not shown | 200KB |
| Footer banner Above the footer, on every page. Site-wide, lowest cost. | 728 × 90 or 970 × 90 | 320 × 50 | 150KB |
What we need from you
The files
- JPEG, PNG or WebP. Animated GIF is accepted; HTML5 is accepted from agencies on request.
- Supply artwork at twice the listed size so it stays sharp on modern screens. A 728 by 90 banner should arrive as 1456 by 180.
- Every creative must be within the weight limit listed against its slot, measured after compression. A good part of our readership is on mobile data, and a heavy advertisement is reporting they did not load.
- Send a separate file for the desktop size and the mobile size. We do not scale one to fit the other.
- Include a line of alternative text describing the advertisement. This is not optional: the site meets WCAG 2.1 AA throughout and an unlabelled image would break that.
Movement and sound
- Animation may run for up to fifteen seconds and loop no more than three times, then stop on a readable frame.
- No sound that starts on its own. Sound may only ever follow a click.
- No flashing faster than three times a second. Anything faster is a seizure risk and will be rejected.
- Nothing that expands, floats over the page, or follows the reader down it unless it was clicked first.
- Creative that respects a reader's reduced-motion setting is preferred and will be given priority where two bookings compete for a slot.
Where it goes
- One click-through URL per creative, served over HTTPS.
- It must land on the thing being advertised, in one hop. No chains of redirects, no interstitials, no page that opens a dialog or starts a download.
- The landing page must work on a phone and must not be broken at the time of booking. We check.
Third-party tags
- Served over HTTPS, loaded asynchronously, and free of document.write.
- No tag that sets a cookie or fingerprints a reader before consent.
- We reserve the right to pull any tag that slows the site measurably, and we will tell you why.
What we will not run
- Anything designed to be mistaken for our own reporting. Sponsored content is welcome and is always labelled as such, in the same place and the same type every time.
- Political advertising without a visible line naming who paid for it.
- Health, medical or weight-loss claims that are not supported by evidence we can see.
- Investment, cryptocurrency or foreign exchange schemes promising a return.
- Gambling creative aimed at, or likely to appeal to, anyone under eighteen.
- Anything demeaning a person or a group on the basis of race, religion, sex, or national origin.
- Anything unlawful in Guyana.
Advertising and reporting
- Buying advertising buys space on this site. It does not buy coverage, influence coverage, or protect anyone from it, and no advertiser sees a story before it runs.
- We may move or pause a booking that lands beside coverage of the advertiser. The booking is honoured elsewhere; the reporting does not change.
- Every paid placement carries a visible label. There is no unlabelled advertising on this site.
- We may decline a booking without giving a reason.
Timings and reporting
- Creative is due three working days before the campaign starts. Late artwork moves the start date, not the end date.
- Bookings run in whole weeks, starting on a Monday, with a two-week minimum.
- Replacement creative mid-campaign is fine, once per campaign, with two working days' notice.
- You get a report at the end of each month with impressions and clicks for every slot you booked.
- Cancellation is free up to seven days before the start date.
