InSightGY is an independent news and commentary publication based in Georgetown, Guyana. We report on government, business and public life, and we publish the arguments those things provoke.
What we do
We cover politics and elections, the oil and gas economy, business, crime and the courts, culture and sport. Some of what we publish is straight reporting. Some of it is opinion, and it is labelled as opinion. We think readers can tell the difference when a publication is honest about which is which.
How we work
We check what we publish before we publish it. We put allegations to the people they concern and give them a fair chance to respond, and we say so in the story when someone declines. We distinguish between what has been reported, what has been alleged and what has been proven, and we keep that distinction in the words we use.
We protect sources who ask for protection. If you send us something and ask not to be named, that is a commitment we keep.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we correct the article, say plainly at the top of it what was wrong and when it was fixed, and leave the correction in place. We do not quietly edit a mistake out of existence. If you think we have published something inaccurate, write to us and we will look at it.
Who owns us and how we are funded
EDIT THIS SECTION. Say who owns and runs the publication, and where the money comes from — advertising, readers, grants, or a mix. A publication that asks questions about other people's interests should answer them about its own. This is the part of an About page readers actually check.
Advertising
We carry advertising, and every paid placement on this site is labelled as such. Advertising buys space here. It does not buy coverage, influence coverage, or protect anyone from it, and no advertiser sees a story before it runs.
