NIS registration and contribution services will be fully available online from 15 October 2026, Minister Zulfikar Ally said during an interview with the Department of Public Information.
Minister Ally said the digital transformation of NIS is intended to make essential services more accessible and convenient, reducing the need for citizens to visit physical offices to conduct routine transactions.
Compliance and benefits services are expected to be fully digitalised by the end of 2026.
Citizens will be able to access NIS services remotely using mobile phones, tablets, or computers. The transition to digital services will not exclude citizens with limited access to technology or who need assistance navigating online systems. The government established physical service centres and help desks at Neighbourhood Democratic Councils to support citizens, particularly seniors.
The NIS digitalisation programme is part of the government’s wider effort to move Guyana beyond paper‑based records into digital formats and towards full digitalisation of public services. The government accelerated transformation through digital platforms, online appointment systems, and the expansion of Integrated Government Service Centres.
The People’s Progressive Party/Civic was re‑elected in September 2025.
The NIS transformation is a step toward creating a more efficient, accessible, citizen‑centred public service where routine transactions can be completed without lengthy travel or queues.
