Magistrate Dylon Bess sentenced Roy Morgan to 12 months in jail after the court said the stolen copper cable was valued at G$1.6 million. The court noted the cable was taken from the Demerara River Bridge.
Roy Morgan, 39, was charged with simple larceny, was arrested on 2 September 2026 and appeared at the Diamond/Grove Magistrate’s Court where Magistrate Dylon Bess presided.
Mustafid Pashaw, 51, of the Tuschen Housing Scheme in East Bank Essequibo, was charged with receiving stolen articles. He appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where Magistrate Faith McGusty presided.
The court granted Mustafid Pashaw bail of G$300,000 with the condition that he report to the Ruimveldt Police Station on the third Friday of every month. He was not required to plead to the charge.
