The Regional Medical Distribution Centre in Region Ten was commissioned on Thursday, according to Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony. The centre was built at a cost of G$218.6 million.
The facility, which cost G$218,688,808, is intended to strengthen public health infrastructure and improve medical supply availability.
Minister Anthony said the government continues to invest in transforming Guyana’s healthcare system and ensuring quality, efficient services. He added that investments are complemented by better equipment, technology, pharmaceuticals, supplies and training of health professionals. The minister also said the government’s vision is to provide quality healthcare close to communities for all persons and thanked contributors to the centre, urging efficient operation of the facility.
Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips spoke at the ceremony and highlighted the importance of the facilities for improving services and quality of life.
